Why come to Austin?
During our final year of the ICYPAA bid process, we selected the theme “Haven at Last”. Indeed, for many of us Austin, TX is the haven we have been searching for. We have found community, acceptance, friendship, and a rock solid AA fellowship here in the heart of Texas.
Austin has always been known as the “weird” capital of Texas, but in recent years has increasingly become a melting pot of people, many of them young, from all over the country and all over the world. We love our city and we are so excited to share it with young people from all over the world in 2024!
Here are some reasons to visit Austin, Texas:
Austin is the Live Music Capital of the World. Nearly everyone loves live music, and whatever you are into, you can find it here.
Lady Bird Lake and Barton Springs. How could you not like sunshine, kayaking, paddle boarding, and relaxing in the healing waters of a natural spring, all in the heart of the city?
Hill Country. Austin is located right in the middle of the most naturally beautiful part of Texas: Hill Country. Endless opportunities for outdoor recreation, from hiking, mountain-biking, and camping, to relaxing drives on windy roads, wildflowers, and sunsets.
The City. Austin is a vibrant city full of unique streets, art, businesses and people. It’s not quite like any other place on earth!
The Food. Austin has an amazing food scene. From local staples like tacos, steak, kolaches, and of course barbecue, to world class offerings of ethnic varieties including Mexican, sushi, Puerto-Rican, Thai, and many unique fusion options. Also, don’t forget to check out our famous food trucks!
